2024 - Faith Leaders
The InterFaith Alliance was founded on October 17, 2012 when Fr. Arturo Bañuelas called together a diverse group of faith leaders within El Paso & Southern New Mexico who agreed to gather monthly to dialogue and learn from each other. From 2012 until 2015, Larry Bach and Deborah Clugy-Soto co-chaired the alliance. When Larry moved away from El Paso in 2015, Deborah assumed the leadership as chair. During these years several city-wide prayer vigils were held, along with other community and youth events. In 2018 a Community Group was started with sporadic meetings at first and then with regular bi-monthly meetings beginning in 2021. In 2020 the alliance was incorporated, elected it's first Council and in 2022 it secured it's non-profit status. The Faith Leader Group continues to meet monthly and the Community Group began meeting monthly in 2024.
